05 Nov The Best Christmas Markets in Hertfordshire
As we start to see the shops fill up with chocolate advent calendars, festive gift wrap and decorations, we can confirm that the Christmas season has begun!
Whilst we don’t all have the time to fly to Prague or Belgium’s winter wonderland Market Places, or the cash to watch the northern lights through the roof of an ice hotel in Lapland, there are still so many options right here on Hertfordshire’s doorstep. Embrace the festive spirit with your family and friends, and visit one of Aubrey Park’s top 5 Christmas Markets in Hertfordshire…
1. Knebworth Winter Festival (9th – 11th November)
Knebworth has been considered as the biggest Christmas market in Hertfordshire, so for sheer scale and selection, this market is definitely one of the best. This is the perfect place to start your Christmas shopping or take the family for a festive day out, with enough entertainment to keep the little ones occupied! With 200 stalls and a full range of arts, crafts, gifts, and homeware for the family Knebworth is definitely worth a visit. Whether you’re trying to find the perfect gift for a loved one, visiting Father Christmas’s Grotto with the little ones or sipping on mulled wine, you’ll find it all!
2. Harpenden Christmas Carnival and Farmers Market (25 November)
Did someone say carnival? No, not Notting Hill and certainly not South America, a spectacular event on Harpenden High Street is in store. Including a carnival procession, charity stalls, a Farmers Market, turning on the town’s Christmas lights, fairground rides and festive shopping. www.harpenden.gov.uk
3. St Albans Christmas Market (30 November – 22 December)
We really are excited about this one… This year will be the first year the market has been hosted within the Meraki Christmas Festival, which means not only will it be packed with stalls offering local handcrafted gifts, but there’ll also be the chance to enjoy rides, a spectacular virtual reality Santa’s Grotto experience, Christmas movies, skating, an ice bar and much, much more.

Tring High Street will be transformed into a magical Christmas Market, providing an enchanting evening for the whole family. Shops will be open for late-night purchases, along with a Bar tent from Tring Brewery, food stalls and homemade festive stalls. Father Christmas himself will be in residence in Victoria Hall, and the Christmas lights will be switched on in the evening.

5. Redbourn Christmas market (2nd December)
80 stalls, seasonal music throughout the day and a visit from Santa, our local market gets five stars from us. As a not for profit market, we love the sense of community the Redbourn market brings and the opportunity for us to get out there and see our local customers and businesses in action. There will also be lots of entertainment including choirs singing carols, the Yule raffle as well as tempting food stalls.
